familea (formerly Basler Frauenverein) is a socially responsible association with a tradition of over 120 years in the Basel area. The range of services includes over 30 daycare centers with around 1400 care places, a children's home with three decentralized residential groups, a transit home for clarification and crisis intervention, a women's counseling center and the center for foster children. Reconciliation of family and work, equal opportunities and integration form our guiding principles for the design of support.

Day care centers

With over 30 daycare centers with around 1,400 places in the Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and Aargau areas, we offer a high-quality childcare program where your child feels comfortable, builds sustainable relationships and is encouraged in his or her interests and strengths.

Children and youth homes

In the children's home Lindenberg and the decentralized residential groups, familea offers children and adolescents protection, security and support with socio-pedagogical care. In the transit home Im Vogelsang, we offer immediate and round-the-clock support to children in difficult acute situations through crisis intervention and clarification.

Foster families

Thanks to the more than 200 foster families from its own placement pool, familea's Center for Foster Children (ZPK) offers children and adolescents protection, security and a perspective through reliable family relationships when care in the family of origin is not possible for various reasons.

Women's Counseling

The familea Frauenberatung offers social and legal counseling for women in difficult life situations. The counselors pursue a holistic counseling concept, which is aimed at women residing in the canton of Basel-Stadt and support women seeking advice in developing new perspectives.

Our Riehen Dorf daycare center shines in a new look

Last Friday was the day: the interior design with the new familea colors and shapes was implemented in the Riehen Dorf daycare center.

The familea Center for Foster Children has been running a broad-based advertising campaign in Basel-Stadt and the surrounding area since Tuesday, March 19. The campaign, under the motto "What's on at the weekend?", focuses primarily on the search for new weekend foster families.

Investing in the future: familea introduces in-house training days

15.03.2024 marked an important milestone for all familea daycare centers when they gathered for the first time for an in-house training day at the renowned Theater Basel. The event kicked off with a captivating lecture on "Early Language Education", presented by Annika Butters from the prestigious Marie Meierhofer Institute in Zurich. In the afternoon, the theory presented during the lecture was put directly into practice.
