We offer you various services tailored to the needs of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/information-for-interested-parties\/#welche-pflegeverhaeltnisse-gibt-es\">Care relationships<\/a> and referring specialist agencies.<\/p>\n<p>Our support covers various areas, including advice, mediation and training, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/your-path-to-becoming-a-foster-family\/#begleitmodus\">Accompaniment<\/a> and support throughout the entire fostering relationship. Our aim is to provide both foster families and foster children with the best possible support and to provide them with the necessary resources and tools to enable successful and stable foster care relationships.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tOur support for foster parents\t<\/h2>\n\t<p><b>During the recording process:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support in the decision process to become a foster family<\/li>\n<li>Specific training modules in several basic courses focusing on the following topics<\/li>\n<li>Access to an extensive library of specialized topics for foster families and foster children<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<p><b>After receiving the care place permit:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accompaniment of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/your-path-to-becoming-a-foster-family\/#vermittlungsprozess\">Mediation process<\/a> and at the introductory meeting<\/li>\n<li>Advice in the decision making process<\/li>\n<li>Consulting and coaching of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/information-for-interested-parties\/#welche-pflegeverhaeltnisse-gibt-es\">Care relationship<\/a> through regular telephone calls and home visits depending on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/your-path-to-becoming-a-foster-family\/#begleitmodus\">Companion mode<\/a> with a permanent specialist. The specialist will provide assistance with pedagogical questions and reflect with you on observations relating to the foster child. If necessary, you will receive support with administrative procedures with the authorities.<\/li>\n<li>Moderated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/information-for-interested-parties\/#wer-kann-pflegeperson-werden\">Foster parent groups<\/a> offer you the opportunity to regularly exchange ideas with other foster families. In addition to informal exchanges, the meetings enable foster families to reflect on their own fostering relationship and their role. The moderation creates a supportive framework in which you can share your experiences, learn from others and receive valuable support to successfully manage your fostering tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Follow-up after return to the parents of origin, withdrawal or termination of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/information-for-interested-parties\/#welche-pflegeverhaeltnisse-gibt-es\">Care relationship<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tThe Center for Foster Children bundles central tasks in the foster child system: \t<\/h2>\n\t<p><b>Placement of foster families <\/b><\/p>\n<p>When referring specialist agencies contact us looking for a foster family for a child, we draw from a pool of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/your-path-to-becoming-a-foster-family\/#was-ist-eine-fachpflegefamilie\">certified and trained foster families,<\/a> who are willing to take in children and young people who cannot live with their biological parents temporarily or for a longer period of time.<\/p>\n<p>We support you in your search for a suitable foster family to ensure that the foster child and foster family can enter into a successful foster relationship. We take into account the individual wishes and needs of all parties involved and accompany the placement process from initial contact to placement.<\/p>\n<p>Our experience and expertise enable us to find the best possible match (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/your-path-to-becoming-a-foster-family\/#vermittlungsprozess\">Agreement between foster child and foster family<\/a>) and thus create a stable and loving center of life for the child.<\/p>\n\t<p><b>Support for care relationships<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We continue to support you even after a child has been placed in a foster family. Our services include professional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/your-path-to-becoming-a-foster-family\/#begleitmodus\">Accompaniment,<\/a> which is individually tailored to the needs and resources of the child, the foster family and the family of origin. Our aim is to promote and protect the child's well-being at the placement location. We are always available to answer any questions, concerns or difficulties you may have. We offer regular discussions, home visits, telephone calls and e-mails. We also organize group offers, exchange meetings and further training for foster families.<\/p>\n<p>Regular further training enables them to deal with the challenges of the caregiving relationship and to grow with them.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tWhat is a specialized care family?\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>A specialist foster family is a family or individual who specializes in caring for foster children. In order to take on this role, they take part in a three-part preparatory course on the subject of foster care, undergo a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/information-for-interested-parties\/#eignungsabklaerung\">Suitability clarification<\/a> and receive professional support from the Center for Foster Children (ZPK). All foster families supported by the ZPK are qualified as specialist foster families.<\/p>\n\t<p>No professional pedagogical qualification or experience with foster children is mandatory for this role.<\/p>\n<p>The specialist foster families in the Center for Foster Children's pool have the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/information-for-interested-parties\/#eignungsabklaerung\">Suitability process<\/a> and have a valid license to work in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familea.ch\/en\/foster-families\/information-for-interested-parties\/#welche-pflegeverhaeltnisse-gibt-es\">Care place permit<\/a> for short-term or long-term care. Some foster families even provide both forms of care.<\/p>\n<p>In the cantons of Basel-Stadt (BS) and Basel-Landschaft (BL), families who care for related foster children can also work as specialized foster families.<\/p>\n<p>The ZPK accompanies its specialist foster families throughout the entire fostering relationship and supports them in their important task of providing children with a stable and loving home.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tHow does a mediation process work?\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-tabs--label-0\" data-index=\"0\" aria-selected=\"true\" aria-controls=\"fl-tabs--panel-0\" aria-expanded=\"true\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"0\">\t\t\t\tRequest from an authority\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-tabs--label-1\" data-index=\"1\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"fl-tabs--panel-1\" aria-expanded=\"false\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"0\">\t\t\t\tZPK fitting process\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-tabs--label-2\" data-index=\"2\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"fl-tabs--panel-2\" aria-expanded=\"false\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"0\">\t\t\t\tGet to know\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-tabs--label-3\" data-index=\"3\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"fl-tabs--panel-3\" aria-expanded=\"false\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"0\">\t\t\t\tTaster\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-tabs--label-4\" data-index=\"4\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"fl-tabs--panel-4\" aria-expanded=\"false\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"0\">\t\t\t\tEntry into foster family\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tRequest from an authority\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>The Center for Foster Children (ZPK) receives a request for a foster child to be placed.<\/li>\n<li>The request can come from the Child and Youth Service (KJD) in Basel-Stadt or from other authorities such as the Child and Adult Protection Authority (KESB), the social services or a guardian from Basel-Land.<\/li>\n<li>The request contains information about the child, its family background and the requirements for the potential foster family.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tZPK fitting process\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>The ZPK placement team searches for suitable foster families based on the existing criteria and the profile of the foster families in their pool.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tGet to know\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>The selected foster family is asked whether they can imagine such a placement (with anonymized information on the placement).<\/li>\n<li>If the feedback is positive, the also anonymized <b>Portrait of the foster family<\/b> sent to the referring physician.<\/li>\n<li>If the referrer has decided to get to know one of the foster families on offer, an initial meeting takes place with the foster family.<\/li>\n<li>This meeting is attended by the parents, the referrer, the foster child and an employee from the placement team of the Center for Foster Children (ZPK).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tTaster\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>All parties then have time to decide whether they can imagine this care relationship.<\/li>\n<li>In a positive case, a trial period is arranged to test the practical implementation of the care relationship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tEntry into foster family\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>After a successful trial period, the foster child is definitively placed in the foster family.<\/li>\n<li>A foster care contract is drawn up when the foster child joins the foster family.<\/li>\n<li>This regulates all details such as visiting contacts, ancillary costs, etc.<\/li>\n<li>The support mode then starts with fixed case support from the ZPK.<\/li>\n<li>This support assists the foster family throughout the entire fostering relationship<\/li>\n<li>Only in the case of SOS placements is there no comprehensive selection and no personal meeting. Foster families with a short-term permit come into action immediately after the telephone inquiry by the Center for Foster Children (ZPK) and their own confirmation. They offer the child a safe place to settle down. The maximum duration of this placement is 90 days.
