familea is a new member of Alliance Enfance, an association of organizations that work for good conditions for children and families throughout Switzerland.

On February 14, 1901, Lily Zellweger-Steiger laid the foundation stone for familea. Over more than a century, her initiative developed into a social organization that accompanies, strengthens and supports children, women and families in Basel and the region.

The Zottelbär daycare center has been QualiKita-certified since January 27, 2026. Daycare center director Daniela Volpe and her team decided to take on the challenge of QualiKita certification back in 2024.

On November 26, we celebrated the graduation of several newly qualified daycare center managers.

From November 25 to December 10, familea is taking part in the annual 16 Days against Violence against Women campaign.

From Wednesday, November 26 to Sunday, November 30, 2025, the St. Jakobshalle in Münchenstein will host the Baselland Job Show - and familea will be there.

To mark International Children's Rights Day, children at our familea locations are designing over 50 creative chairs on their most important rights.

At the apprenticeship fair in Basel, we held over 90 discussions with interested young people about the profession of childcare specialist EFZ.

Our care specialists Aylin Kayhan and Anna Séquin made an impressive showing at SwissSkills in Bern - we are proud of their commitment and congratulate them warmly.

On Saturday, September 13, the Kleinhüningen daycare center celebrated its 75th anniversary. Numerous children, parents, former families and employees spent the day with us.
