familea has been supporting children, women and families in Basel for 125 years - with heart, commitment and a pioneering spirit.

familea is a socially responsible association with a 125-year tradition in the Basel area. We look after around 3,000 children in over 40 daycare centers. We run children's and youth homes, the foster children's center and a social and legal advice service for women. Our services strengthen families, children and women. They promote the compatibility of family and career and contribute to equal opportunities and integration. With over 900 employees - around 200 of whom are trainees and students - we are a recognized and important specialist and training institution in the social sector.

Day care centers

With over 40 daycare centers with around 1700 childcare places in the Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and Aargau regions, we offer a high-quality childcare service where your child feels comfortable, builds lasting relationships and is encouraged in his or her interests and strengths.

Children and youth homes

In the children's home Lindenberg and the decentralized residential groups, familea offers children and adolescents protection, security and support with socio-pedagogical care. In the transit home Im Vogelsang, we offer immediate and round-the-clock support to children in difficult acute situations through crisis intervention and clarification.

Foster families

Thanks to the more than 200 foster families from its own placement pool, familea's Center for Foster Children (ZPK) offers children and adolescents protection, security and a perspective through reliable family relationships when care in the family of origin is not possible for various reasons.

Women's Counseling

The familea Frauenberatung offers social and legal counseling for women in difficult life situations. The counselors pursue a holistic counseling concept, which is aimed at women residing in the canton of Basel-Stadt and support women seeking advice in developing new perspectives.

familea Visits AGIR26

At AGIR26 in Reinach, familea gave young people a glimpse into their apprenticeship trades and invited families to participate in creative activities. Numerous visitors took advantage of the wide range of activities offered on the children’s playground.

Summer Festival Celebrating familea's 125th Anniversary

This year’s summer party was dedicated to a special anniversary: 125 years of familea. About 650 employees gathered at the Sandoase to celebrate this milestone together.
