The familea Frauenberatung offers social and legal counseling for women in difficult life situations. The counselors pursue a holistic counseling concept, which is aimed at women residing in the canton of Basel-Stadt and supports women seeking advice in developing new perspectives.

Our counseling is one or more times, depending on your needs and wishes. It is subject to the obligation of secrecy. If it helps to solve your problem, we also contact authorities, administrations, health insurance companies, etc. after consultation and with your consent. We are also happy to arrange for further help.

Appointment

To make an appointment, please contact us by phone.

Our reception will arrange an initial free, brief telephone consultation, during which your concerns will be recorded and you will be given a personal appointment according to your need for advice.

If you are unable to attend, please give at least half a day's notice.

We can conduct counseling sessions in German, French and English. Translators will only be organized for you in exceptional cases - but you are welcome to bring someone yourself.

Tax return 2023

Clients of the Women's Counseling Service can fill out their tax returns with the help of their counselors. To do so, contact us and make an appointment with your advisor.

Appointment preparation

Please bring the following documents to your appointment as well as some cash to pay for the consultation fee, if any:

1. at the initial interview: Evidence of income situation (salary, pensions, supplementary benefits, alimony, social welfare receipts, daily unemployment benefits, disposition of premium reduction, rent contributions, etc.) and evidence of fixed expenses (rent, health insurance, child care, taxes, etc.).

2. for financial concerns: Current income and expense documents (see 1.) and any outstanding bills or cost estimates.

3. in case of legal issues: in addition to points 1 and 2, also any orders, decisions, contracts, other correspondence

4. in case of administrative support needs: letters, identification, documents relevant to the subject (e.g. in case of tax return: declaration, interest statements as of 31.12., proof of income, statement of health insurance costs, care costs)

Fees

The Women's Counseling Service is significantly supported by the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Since the subsidies do not cover the costs, a contribution to the costs of social and legal counseling is required within your financial means. Our offer should nevertheless be low-threshold, therefore the amount can be reduced in justified cases.

On the occasion of the first meeting with the consultant, the possible consulting fee will be determined. This will be gladly accepted in cash against receipt.

Provisional calculation of the relevant income

For consultations longer than 30 minutes, the full hourly rate will be charged. For consultations of up to 30 minutes, half the hourly rate will be charged.

Christmas gift campaign at the women's counseling service

From Monday, around 100 children will receive gifts donated by bank employees at the women's advice center. The "eins vo fünf" association and Raiffeisenbank Basel are generously supporting the campaign, which will provide financial relief for over 40 mothers affected by poverty.
