On Saturday, June 6, 2026, familea celebrated its 125th anniversary with a big party on Münsterplatz. Numerous employees, families, alumni, partner organizations and guests from the world of politics came together to celebrate this special milestone.
The event kicked off with a brunch for invited guests. After the welcoming address by association president Sibylle Schürch, government councillor Mustafa Atici addressed the guests. Sibylle Schürch led through the program. Monika Bitterli then took the guests on a journey through the past, present and future of familea.
A special highlight was the immersive video on the history of familea, told from the perspective of founder Lily Zellweger-Steiger. At the end of the official part, the birthday cake was symbolically cut.
From 12.00 noon, the Münsterplatz was filled with life. Numerous attractions provided excitement for young and old alike. The Poetomat, the creative studio, the children's railroad, the climbing wall and the carousel invited visitors to join in and discover. The duck fishing was also very popular. Those who wanted to let off steam found numerous opportunities to play and try things out in the movement and play zone.
The colorful stage program provided additional entertainment. Children danced, twirled and joined in, while the clown Pimpinelli amazed young and old with her magic show. The children from the Kleinhüningen daycare center and the Riehenring daycare center also received enthusiastic applause when they presented their circus skills on stage.
The information stands were also very busy. Face painting, tattoos & nails, the wheel of fortune and the button machine were very popular. Visitors were able to capture memories of this special day in the photo box.
Various food stands provided a wide range of culinary delights. The walk-through chronicle also offered the opportunity to discover the history of familea in a vivid way and immerse yourself in 125 years of organizational history.
The anniversary celebration impressively demonstrated what familea has stood for for 125 years: promoting the compatibility of work and family, creating equal opportunities and supporting the integration of people in different life situations. The many encounters, the cheerful atmosphere and the numerous visitors made this day an unforgettable experience.

Above all, however, the celebration showed how much passion, commitment and cohesion familea has and how lively the history of our organization is, even after 125 years.
