Our anniversary celebration was so great!

🎨 Creativity, Movement, and Connection at familea Art Kids From June 16 to 21, 2025, familea Art Kids was once again part of Art Basel. Children ages 4 to 11 found a space with us to play, create, and explore.

The welcome event for familea’s new apprentices on June 17 was a resounding success. More than 120 guests attended the event in the theater hall of the Basel Vocational School. Among them were 53 young people who are starting their training at familea this year and are on their way to becoming certified care specialists (FaBe).

familea was recently a guest on Radio Basilisk. During the interview, they discussed various topics related to the organization and its services. Among other things, they explained how familea came to choose its current name and what that name signifies.

In glorious weather, familea celebrated its 125th anniversary on June 6 with a large family festival on Münsterplatz. Numerous guests enjoyed a varied program with attractions, stage performances, culinary offerings and many opportunities to meet and chat. The festival made visible what familea has stood for for 125 years: the compatibility of work and family, equal opportunities and integration.

Franz Hofmann attended the Jungstrasse daycare center as a child and is now completing his training there as a childcare specialist. Telebasel has followed his special career.

As part of Vocational Training Week 2026, familea gave interested children, parents and people interested in training an insight into the profession of childcare specialist.

The familea Center for Foster Children is launching a campaign to recruit weekend foster families from April 15, 2026.

familea launches its own podcast in its anniversary year. Entitled «familea erzählt» (familea tells stories), it addresses social issues relating to family, children, women and social responsibility.
