The familea Center for Foster Children is launching a campaign to recruit weekend foster families from April 15, 2026.

familea is a new member of Alliance Enfance, an association of organizations that work for good conditions for children and families throughout Switzerland.

In the podcast «Wir reden Bartext», familea discusses the changes in the family in recent years and the associated expectations of early childhood care. Family forms have become more diverse, employment models more flexible and social demands more complex.

On February 14, 1901, Lily Zellweger-Steiger laid the foundation stone for familea. Over more than a century, her initiative developed into a social organization that accompanies, strengthens and supports children, women and families in Basel and the region.
