Carnival

"Zämme im Taggt"

The Lindenberg was also gripped by the fever of the "Drey scheenschte Dääg" and set off for the Cortège on Monday and Wednesday.

Since we go to the Valais every other year for skiing and snowboarding and the Fasnacht was cancelled two years due to Corona, the anticipation was huge for some.

In November we started with a first carnival meeting, to which all interested people were invited. In December our motif was fixed. The participants distributed "Räppli", vegetables, flowers and sweets to the children and adults on the street wheel.

According to the motto "D'Wält keit us de Fuege, die falsche hogge im Knascht" the most different problems of the world were addressed. We started with the construction of the float which was to serve as a prison. Larvae were painted and costumes were sewn. 12 children and young people were then ready on February 27th for "die dreei scheenschte Dääg im Joor".

As it should be, we dived into the magic of carnival on Monday at 4:00 a.m. as spectators with the Morgensträich! For many it was the first morning parade ever and fascinated by the drums and pipes and the artfully painted lanterns we walked through the streets of Basel. After a short sleep break, the big moment came in the afternoon. Larva on, forward march.

Accompanied and led by Putin, Trump and Infantino, who led the troop with a broad chest, we threaded our way behind a clique at Wettsteinplatz. The prisoner scales were pulled by two silenced journalists, while the children and young people joyfully presented the spectators with Räppli and sweets or flowers. After a short break on Barfüsserplatz, we continued through Freie Strasse and over the Mittlere Brücke back to Kleinbasel, to Lindenberg. But of course we could still be found on the streets later, just without a car.

On Tuesday we accompanied the children and young people to the children's carnival and in the evening to the Gugge concert. They could wear their own costumes or old ones from the Lindenberg, which many did. Three groups attended the Gugge concert in the evening. There was dancing, laughing and the mood was boisterous and good.

On Wednesday we participated again in the Cortège and did the same as on Monday. This time we were all experienced Fasnächtler and could enjoy it even more. In the evening we were again on the streets. We ate dinner at the barbecue stand of our cook and ended a successful carnival 2023 even before the official final prank.

In summary, we can speak of a very successful carnival. The children's eyes shone, especially when they met classmates or acquaintances and were proud to have participated in the Cortège. The Wild Waggisschaar danced to the sound of the Guggemusiken, stuffed passers-by and lovingly distributed Däfeli to the youngest. We received many compliments and even made it on TV. Next year we hope for sunny ski days with lots of snow and in two years the KH Lindenberg Waggis will surely be back on the streets of Basel.

The Children's Home Lindenberg would like to thank all supporters and participants for the great carnival.
